TITLE: BULLYING/CYBERBULLYING

A. Purpose:
The CCAC Board is committed to providing a safe, positive environment for all individuals.The Board recognizes that bullying creates an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, detracts from the safe environment necessary for everyday interactions, and may lead to more serious violence. Therefore, the Board prohibits bullying by any individual while under CCAC, Inc. and CCSD time and or on any school property.This is to include meets home or away.
B. Definitions:
Bullying means an intentional electronic, written, verbal or physical act or series of acts, including intimidation directed at another person(s), which occurs in a school/pool setting, either in or outside of the pool/school setting that is severe, persistent, or pervasive and has the effect of doing any of the following:
Bullying as defined in this policy, includes cyberbullying.
Bullying consists of a pattern of repeated harmful behavior by a person with more physical or social power toward a less powerful person. This may include a wide variety of behaviors with deliberate intent to hurt, embarrass, or humiliate the other person. Researchers have identified four (4) forms of bullying:
The term bullying shall not be interpreted to infringe upon individuals right to engage in legally protected speech or conduct.
CCAC, Inc. and CCSD settings means in the school, on school ground, or at any activity sponsored, supervised or sanctioned by CCAC, Inc. and/or CCSD.
C. Authority:
The Board prohibits all forms of bullying by all individuals.
The Board encourages individuals who have been bullied to promptly report such incidents to the CCAC, Inc. Board and/or Coaches.
The Board directs that complaints of bullying shall be investigated promptly,and corrective action shall be taken when allegations are verified. If the behavior is found to meet the definition of bullying, written documentation shall be the responsibility of the CCAC, Inc. Board. The CCAC, Inc. Board designee will inform parents/guardians of the victim and person accused. Confidentiality of all parties shall be maintained, consistent with the district’s legal and investigative obligations. No reprisals or retaliation shall occur as a result of good faith reports of bullying.
D. Delegation of Responsibility:
Each individual shall be responsible to respect the rights of others and to ensure an atmosphere free from bullying. The CCAC, Inc. Board with CCSD shall develop administrative regulations are reviewed annually with students. The CCAC,Inc. Board with CCSD, in cooperation with other appropriate administrators shall review this policy every three (3) years and recommend necessary revisions to the Board.
E. Guidelines
This policy, shall be disseminated each season to all families involved with CCAC, Inc.

Any individual who violates this policy shall be subject to the following, depending on the severity of offense:

- Creating of threatening environment, before, during or after practice or a meet.
- Substantial disruption of the orderly operation of the practice or meet.

- Physical – The most commonly known form; includes hitting, kicking, spitting, pushing and taking personal belongings.
- Verbal – includes taunting, malicious teasing, name-calling, and making threats.
- Psychological or Relational – involves spreading rumors, manipulation social relationships, and engaging in social exclusion or intimidation.
- Cyberbullying – forms of verbal and psychological bullying may also occur on the Internet through e-mail, instant messaging, or personal profile web sites such as Instagram, Snap chat, MySpace or Facebook. Cyberbullying includes, but is not limited to, the following misuse of technology: harassing, teasing, intimidating, threatening, or posting inappropriate or derogatory e-mail messages, instant messages, text messages, digital pictures or images, or web site postings (including blogs). All forms of cyberbullying are unacceptable and, to the extent that such actions are disruptive of the educational process of the district, offenders shall be the subject of appropriate discipline, which may include legal and/or police proceedings.
- Physically, emotionally or mentally harming an individual.
- Damaging, extorting or taking any individuals personal property.
- Placing any individual in reasonable fear of physical, emotional or mental harm.
- Placing any individual in reasonable fear of damage to or loss of personal property.
- Creating an intimidating or hostile environment that substantially interferes with that individual.

- Individuals shall report a complaint of bullying or cyberbullying, orally or in writing, to the CCAC, Inc. Board or CCAC, Inc. coach.
- The CCAC, Inc. Board will investigate the alleged conduct that occurred.
- The CCAC, Inc. Board may ask assistance from other Board members or coaching staff in the investigation process.
- After the investigation, all individuals involved shall be notified in writing of the complaint and the results of the investigation and shall take corrective action to ensure that the conduct ceases.
CONSEQUENCES FOR VIOLATIONS
Any individual who violates this policy shall be subject to the following, depending on the severity of offense:
- ALWAYS A PARENTAL CONFERENCE.
- Loss of use of locker room.
- Parental/guardian present at all times.
- Asked to leave the team.
